Ky Hurst is a superior endurance athlete. He went pro at 15 years old in surf lifesaving, the Australian Ironman (surf, board rescue, surf team, and taplin relay). He won the Australian Ironman 4 times. In 2004, he just missed making the Olympics in the 1500 Free by getting 3rd. In 2008, he qualified in the 10km open water swim where he placed 11th overall. He is now a grinder for Oracle Team USA in the 35th America's Cup Challenge.
Brett and Ky talk about being drawn to the water. Surfing. What it means to be able to read the waves, to read the surf. Open water swimming. Training with Grant Hackett. Going pro at 15. Winning 4x Australian Ironman titles and how he did it. Swimming in a stacked 2004 Olympic Trials 1500 Final where he got 3rd. Making the team in the 10K in 2008. How he got into sailing. What his job is as a grinder.
And so much more.
