Have you watched this epic 500 Free with Kieran Smith (@GatorsSwimDv) and Jake Magahey (@UGASwimDive) going at it?

Lot to learn from this race.
A thread...https://t.co/TcBvt39psE
Kieran has said before in interviews he knows he needs to take it out faster...and he does. He's got a body length on nearly everyone by the 100.

1:35.70 at the 200 mark. FULL body length on Magahey.
It is looking like a blow out.
The middle of the race is where they both settle in.

Kieran's almost robotic. Each length looks exactly the same because they are exactly the same.
Couple fly kicks into a nice stream of flutter off every wall.
His breakouts are always the same: smooth
Magahey is more of a swinger in his arm motion making him look a bit more erratic but he's taking 11 strokes every 25 and isn't giving up any ground to Kieran.

And, in fact, he begins to chase him down.
Magahey moves up against the lane line. It's time to go get him.
Off the walls Kieran first pulls with his bottom arm (his left) and then breathes into his 2nd stroke (his right).

Magahey does not do this. Instead, he pulls with his top arm first (his right arm) & breathes into it.
Tell me he doesn't decelerate. https://t.co/JwzUKmQyZB
You know who breathes off walls like Kieran?

Katie Ledecky. https://t.co/Ut8FxkVQTf
